We know that we have been really lucky with our kids being pretty healthy and not getting seriously hurt. I don't know what it is lately. Whether they are just getting bigger and stronger, therefore making falls and other accidents that much more powerful, or Andrew has just been just unlucky. The poor guy fell off the monkey bars at school in April and broke his arm. It was a common break of both bones near his wrist and healed well with four weeks in a cast. Luckily, he got it off three days before the pool opened for the summer.
Last night, Timmy and Andrew were playing tackle football in the backyard (sans any equipment, of course) and Andrew was tackled. The boys tackle and wrestle just about 24 hours a day it seems, so when he said his shoulder hurt I really didn't think that much of it. And he is so tough that he didn't complain anymore. This morning I saw his collarbone and it was obviously not normal, so to the pediatrician's office we go. After a quick x-ray, we head back to the ped's office to get him fitted with a brace. That was the easy part. The hard part is going to be getting him to slow down and rest enough for it to heal. We will see how that goes.
As far as our pediatrician's office, thank goodness for them. I feel like between our four kids we are there so much that I should just about be able to call and say "hi, its me..can we come in today?" Or they can just set up automatic bill pay and debit our account once a month for all of our visits. I guess it comes with the territory and I probably shouldn't expect to to get much better as the boys continue to get bigger and stronger with no less fear or inhibition!
I'm so glad you started posting to your blog, now I have to start posting to mine again! I hope Andrew's collarbone heals quickly! Love and miss you guys!!!!
